If mini-golf makes a great first date, it makes an even better third date. I was super excited to play at Mel’s because I’d heard a rumor late last year that they’d spend a lot of money redoing the mini-golf courses.

Let me tell you – that is strictly a rumor! While there was evidence of minimal care taken to improve some things, the putting surfaces were generally a mess. There are two separate course and I will write posts for both. This is for the easier one (go right as you enter the course and use the blue score card – none of this is obvious so you’ll have to ask.)

The course is in better shape than the other one and features the McQuesten Farm hole with its fun challenge of go up the slope and through the building.

Admittedly, there are some cool water features. Unfortunately, those same water features leave the course sopping wet in some places. Not only did this change how the ball rolled, it also made walking to the hole to complete the putt a real mess.

I have no idea if they offered ice cream or not. The place is huge and spread out. They might, but since we were hungry, we decided to hit the Airport Diner instead.

Overall, the company was a LOT better than the course. I’d play again because it’s there as an option, but it’s far from my first choice. Even Nurmi, our beloved mascot, thought it was better to chill on the sidelines for this one.
