If you’re looking for a course that’s both fun and challenging, this is it. It doesn’t boast the traditional mini-golf obstacles like windmills or logs. What Legends Mini Golf in Hooksett does offers is a course with well-kept surfaces that don’t send the ball quite where you think it’s going to go.
Despite having a couple of large groups in front of us, we didn’t get bottlenecked anywhere, which can be a problem on some courses. A huge negative about this course, though is the water. I love water features on mini golf courses, but this one also becomes part of the course in some unexpected ways.
At one hole, it’s easy to hit your ball right into the water (and we both did so) because it’s not blocked off and it’s a blind putt. Legends does provide nets at all areas where this could be an issue, but I’m not a fan of fishing my ball out of the water when I didn’t know hitting it in there was even an option.
Another thing I’m not a fan of is the flags that have to be removed and replaced in the cups at each hole. That’s a personal preference. And there’s no real reason for it, it’s just a pet peeve. (Nurmi wasn’t a fan either, but did agree to a picture!)
Despite those annoyances, Legends is a fun course. It’s also clean and well kept up. There was only one hole with any sign of wear and it was easily avoided as it’s right at the beginning – clearly a lot of folks found it to be good place to start.
Unlike many mini golf places where you grab your ball when you pick up your putter, Legends provides you with a token to take to the ball machine at the beginning of the course. You can either select the color you want or hit the “???” button and get a surprise. It’s silly, but I think this way of getting your golf ball for the day is super fun. You return them inside with your putter when you’re done.
For handicapped needs, Legends is better than some places. There are no stairs to contend with. However, the bricks that border the holes may be challenging for some, depending on their mobility. In addition, there are a few places that are quite steep. I think it’s likely doable with help, but use caution.
Overall, a fun, well-maintained course that I’ll play again. And next time, I’ll try the ice cream! 🙂
